Super Simple Chicken Bone Broth
Saves you money on soup stock & antibiotics…
1 whole organic and/or Amish chicken*
1 head of garlic, peeled
1-2 TBS peppercorns
3-5 sprigs of fresh rosemary & thyme (or 1 TBS dried)
* You can use a carcass instead of the whole chicken.
Rinse chicken inside & out. Roughly chop garlic. Add all ingredients to crockpot, cover with water, & cook on low. Cook for at least 24 hours before using either the meat or the broth. Continue adding water (to maintain liquid level) and cooking on low for 5-6 days. Strain & drink, or freeze in ice cube trays. We saved ~$10 making this stock. It cost $11 for ingredients (because we used the whole chicken) to make 20+ cups of stock (5-6 tetrapaks of organic stock @ 3.99 each). Plus, you can eat the chicken too!
